About Me

Kayleigh Butler, MS, LPC Associate

Supervised by Joanna Trevino, MA, LPC-S

In a world that can feel so disconnected, I recognize the importance of fostering genuine connections and empowering my clients through a relational and collaborative approach. I understand that true healing often begins with feeling safe and accepted.

My counseling style is rooted in empathy and compassion. I approach counseling with a genuine commitment to understanding your unique experiences and perspectives.

I also bring a touch of humor to our sessions when appropriate, recognizing the therapeutic value of laughter in navigating life's complexities. Laughter can be powerful in the healing process, lightening the load and fostering a positive therapeutic environment.

I specialize in working with members of the LGBTQIA+ community and people who have experienced trauma, PTSD, and complex PTSD (sexual assault, childhood abuse, and relational trauma).

I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with you on the path to healing and self-discovery. Book a free 15-minute consultation to get started today!

My Approach

I embrace a client-centered and collaborative approach, weaving together various therapeutic theories to create a tailored experience for your unique needs.

Person-Centered Therapy:

At the heart of my practice is the Person-Centered approach, inspired by Carl Rogers. This theory emphasizes the creation of a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I believe in your innate capacity for growth and healing, and I strive to provide genuine empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authentic understanding.

Relational-Cultural Theory:

Building on the importance of relationships, Relational-Cultural Theory informs my practice. This theory underscores the interconnectedness of individuals and the transformative power of authentic connections. Together, we will explore the impact of your relationships, fostering a deeper understanding of how they contribute to your personal growth and resilience.

Strengths-Based Counseling:

In addition to the above, I incorporate a Strengths-Based counseling approach. This perspective focuses on identifying and harnessing your inherent strengths and resources. Together, we'll explore your positive attributes, skills, and resilience, leveraging these strengths to overcome challenges and foster personal empowerment.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT):

This evidence-based approach combines cognitive-behavioral techniques with a trauma-sensitive framework, addressing the cognitive and emotional impact of traumatic experiences. Our work will focus on building coping skills, processing trauma-related thoughts and emotions, and promoting healing in a supportive and empowering manner.

Holistic Practices

Integrating holistic care into counseling involves recognizing and addressing the interconnectedness of an individual's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. Incorporating modalities like Reiki, a Japanese energy healing technique, can complement traditional counseling approaches by promoting relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional balance. Reiki can help release emotional blockages, promote self-awareness, and facilitate a deeper connection with your inner self. Through holistic practices, I offer an approach that addresses the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—supporting you in your journey towards healing, self-discovery, and holistic well-being.

By integrating these therapeutic theories, I aim to provide a holistic and personalized counseling experience. My goal is to support you in achieving your therapeutic objectives, whether they involve personal growth, enhanced relationships, trauma recovery, or recognizing and utilizing your unique strengths. Together, we'll embark on a collaborative journey toward greater well-being and a more fulfilling life.
